GIS SUMMER INTERNSHIP - Job ID: 14-009
Job Description
Douglas County, KS is seeking two (2) paid part-time interns for summer 2014 (May through August) for the GIS Division of the IT Department. The intern will assist the GIS staff with tasks related to both ongoing and special GIS projects. This internship is for students interested in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Technologies, Cartography or related fields. This internship involves land base map enhancement using advanced methods and techniques, geo-referencing scanned historical documents, geodatabase design for spatial datasets and developing or improving workflows associated with data maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the latest GIS software and large-format office equipment. Scheduling will be flexible with an expectation of ten (10) hours per week, per intern. Interns will not be scheduled to work at the same time.
