What is IRIS?
The Immediate Response Information System (IRIS) is a call notification system which is being utilized by Douglas County to provide residents with health and safety information including weather alerts sent by the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Individuals register up to 3 phones (land line or cellular) and two e-mail address to receive health and safety alerts. Messages are sent via voice message, text message, and e-mail.

At this time the system is provided at no cost to users as this system has been purchased by the Northeast Region Homeland Security Council through grant funds.
back to topWhat messages might I receive?
Individuals can personalize which weather alerts he/she would like to receive and through which devices. The system also has the capability of providing other health and safety information during disasters or other emergencies to subscribers in a specified geographical area.

Please Note: After creating your account, please be sure to login to IRIS using the link on the confirmation page (http://bit.ly/irislogin) to make sure that your RSS feed (watches and warnings) are active on your profile.
back to topWhat are the requirements for signing up?
You will be asked to set up a username and password. The password will need to include the following:
- at least 6 characters
- at least one number
- at least one lowercase letter
- at least one uppercase letter
- at least one special character (e.g., $ @ % * + = &)

You can make updates to your account at any time by logging in to http://bit.ly/irislogin. Enter your username and password. This will take you to your account information where you can make updates.
